TiviMate is a popular IPTV player for TV devices that run Android: Android TV, Google TV and most Fire TV models. Like every player, it has no channels of its own; you add the playlist from your IPTV provider and TiviMate turns it into a channel list with a full TV guide. This guide covers installing it, adding your playlist, what TiviMate Premium adds, and fixes for common problems.
Check your device first
- Android TV and Google TV (Chromecast with Google TV, NVIDIA Shield, Sony, Philips, TCL and other Android TVs and boxes): TiviMate is on Google Play.
- Fire TV on Fire OS (for example the Fire TV Stick 4K Max and older sticks): TiviMate isn't in the Amazon Appstore, so you install it with the Downloader app.
- Fire TV Stick 4K Select and the 2026 Fire TV Stick HD: these run Amazon's Vega OS, which only accepts Amazon Appstore apps. TiviMate can't be installed on them.
- Samsung, LG, Roku, Apple TV and iPhone: TiviMate isn't available. See our installation guides for apps that work there.
Install TiviMate on Android TV or Google TV
- Open Google Play on the TV and search for TiviMate IPTV Player.
- Select it, choose Install, then Open.
Install TiviMate on Fire TV
- From the Amazon Appstore, install the free Downloader app (by AFTVnews).
- Go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options → Install unknown apps and switch Downloader on. If Developer options is missing, open Settings → My Fire TV → About, select your device's name and press OK seven times, then go back.
- Open Downloader and go to TiviMate's official site, tivimate.com, to download the app.
- Choose Install. When it's done, delete the installer file when Downloader asks, to free up space.
Only install TiviMate from Google Play or tivimate.com. "Premium unlocked" versions on other sites are modified copies: they can contain malware and they stop working with updates.
Add your playlist
- Open TiviMate and choose Add playlist.
- Pick Xtream Codes and enter the server address, username and password from your provider, or pick M3U playlist and enter your playlist link. If you're unsure which to use, see M3U playlists explained.
- Select Next. TiviMate shows the playlist's name and how many channels it found; select Next again.
- If the TV guide wasn't added automatically, enter your provider's guide (EPG) link, then select Done.
- Wait while the TV guide loads. The first time takes a minute or two.
Free version or Premium?
The free version plays your channels with the TV guide. TiviMate Premium is a paid upgrade that adds, among other things, several playlists, recording, catch-up, favourites management and more control over channels and groups.
- Premium is bought in the TiviMate Companion app on an Android phone (from Google Play), as a yearly or a one-time purchase. The price depends on your country and is shown in the app.
- One Premium account covers several devices.
- To activate it on the TV, open TiviMate, go to Settings → Unlock Premium and sign in with your Companion account.
Be wary of sites selling a "TiviMate IPTV subscription": TiviMate doesn't sell channels, and those sites aren't the developer.
Using TiviMate with the remote
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| OK (centre) | Plays the selected channel; while watching, opens the channel list |
| Back | Shows the channel groups, or returns to the TV guide |
| Left / Right | Moves through time in the TV guide |
| Up / Down | Moves through channels |
| Hold OK on a channel | Opens options such as adding it to favourites |
To tidy your list, open Settings → Playlists → Manage groups and hide the groups you never watch. With Premium, programmes on catch-up channels can be played from the guide after they've aired; see how IPTV catch-up works.
Fixes for common problems
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| The playlist won't load | Check the server address or link for typos (no spaces, http:// at the start), and check that your subscription is active. |
| Channels play but the guide is empty | Add the guide link in Settings → EPG, then update the guide. If a few channels stay empty, their guide entries are missing at the provider. |
| Buffering | Use a network cable if you can, and check your speed: plan on about 15 Mbps per HD stream and 25 Mbps for 4K. |
| "Account in use" or a connection error | The subscription is already playing on as many devices as your plan allows. Stop it on another device or wait a few minutes. |
| Premium isn't recognised | Sign in again in Settings → Unlock Premium with the same account as in the Companion app. |
A free alternative: 1ClickTV Player
If you'd rather not pay for Premium, 1ClickTV Player is our free player for Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV, phones and tablets. Recording, multi-view, catch-up, profiles and several playlists are included at no cost. It installs the same way on Fire TV, with Downloader code 5012629.
